The Bahamas

Well you know what they say, "it's better in the Bahamas."....we'll, at least that's what my vanity plate says.

Favorite stop- Junkanoo Beach. Say hey to Barry at J'yah. Enjoy clear waters, maybe a little snorkeling.

Worth a few hours- check out Ardastra Gardens. You won't regret the chance to feed the parrots apple slices.

Shopping in the Straw Market- you just have to bring home a few souveniers afterall! Be prepared to haggle.

Nassau is a frequent stop for a short cruise (3-6 days).

Travel to Cancun, Mexico

Considering a trip to Cancun?  Well, why not? Cancun boasts beautiful white sand beaches, shopping, snorkeling, and more.  With many all-inclusive resorts to choose from, you won't be disappointed.

If diving is your thing, consider this eco friendly tour- Cancun Underwater Museum.  With over 475 sculptures to hide around, the marine life loves the art and you will too. Why did they do it?  "The coral reef sites in Cancun have received a huge influx of visitors over the years and this has taken it’s toll on the natural areas and ecosystems.
The Cancun Underwater Museum  is  a unique way to draw people away from the reefs and create an artificial one where coral can grow and marine life can breed."

While there, don't forget to take in some history.  Visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Chichen Itza. The name means "At the mouth of the well of the Itza" and it is Mexico's most visited archeological site, a magnificent display of Mayan culture and the ceremonial center of the Yucatán.
The fusion of Mayan construction techniques with newer elements from central Mexico make Chichen-Itza one of the most important examples of the Mayan-Toltec civilization in Yucatán. Read more about this UNESCO site.

Ireland

Today's Destination Spotlight is being done in honor of St. Patty's Day.
What comes to mind when we think of the Emerald Isle? Leprechauns aside, the Irish have a bit of luck when you consider the beauty of their land.
With two official UNESCO sites already Bru na Boinne & Skellig Michael, as well as five potential sites to be added in the next ten years, Ireland has much to be proud of.
TO DO & SEE- Rolling hills, cliffs & castles.  Plan to check out a pub or two, of course.  For something a bit more unique, consider   Bram Stoker's Castle Dracula Attraction in Dublin. Top attraction- Guiness Storehouse
Considering a travel to Ireland? How much of the land can you see & how long can you, as always you will have to consult your budget.  Ask yourself if you would like to include a bit of England or Scotland.  Go it alone or hook up with a tour?
Be prepared. Among other things, you'll want to ensure your passport doesn't expire within 6 months of your trip!

Scotland

Destination Spotlight- Scotland!
Absolutely doable...budget $1500-2000 per person for a week. (Price varies on time of year, choice of accommodations & how much touring).
Don't fret too much about exchange rates & obtaining enough British Pounds.  Most of the trip would be paid in advance. Most places accept plastic. Have a small amount on hand in case you want to go to a small shop or other small purchases that may not accept cc.  You can exchange dollars 💲at the airport or post office- You will, however, get a better exchange rate if you withdraw money from an ATM using a debit card. You can use your usual card from home, as long as you know the 4-digit PIN.

TO DO- Explore castles, museums, and lovely landscapes. There are many free parks & museums (yeah!)
Here's a money saving tip- Eat 🍲in a pub – The best food is often in the pubs where you’ll pay a fraction of the price than you would in a traditional restaurant. Also, pubs would give you a true taste of Scottish culture. Scotland is pub-land.
Explore the day away and hang out with the locals for a relaxing evening.
