Cruise from Charleston, S.C.

Charleston has certainly won our hearts as our personal favorite departure port.
From its early American history to the southern hospitality charm with so much more in between, we found it to be a great compromise for us.  See, we generally look for a more Southern start to our cruise when we travel off peak and Charleston, South Carolina is a mid point that we can still do as a drive rather than all the way into Florida.

A few tips- stay pre cruise a day or two in Mt. Pleasant.  Do talk a walk by the harbor- we often see dolphins there.  Take in some history if you can spare the time - Ft. Sumter and if I can suggest a stroll through a church or two.

Charleston has been a departure port for several years for short Bahamas cruises for Carnival' s fantasy class ships.  While we love us the family feel of the Fantasy class ship,  I can't help but share how excited we personally are to welcome the Carnival Sunshine to Charleston as its home port in May 2019.

The Sunshine has become a family favorite with a little bit for every age (sport's square and the red frog pub being the absolute icing on the cake).

The Bahamas

Well you know what they say, "it's better in the Bahamas."....we'll, at least that's what my vanity plate says.

Favorite stop- Junkanoo Beach. Say hey to Barry at J'yah. Enjoy clear waters, maybe a little snorkeling.

Worth a few hours- check out Ardastra Gardens. You won't regret the chance to feed the parrots apple slices.

Shopping in the Straw Market- you just have to bring home a few souveniers afterall! Be prepared to haggle.

Nassau is a frequent stop for a short cruise (3-6 days).
