The Bahamas

Well you know what they say, "it's better in the Bahamas."....we'll, at least that's what my vanity plate says.

Favorite stop- Junkanoo Beach. Say hey to Barry at J'yah. Enjoy clear waters, maybe a little snorkeling.

Worth a few hours- check out Ardastra Gardens. You won't regret the chance to feed the parrots apple slices.

Shopping in the Straw Market- you just have to bring home a few souveniers afterall! Be prepared to haggle.

Nassau is a frequent stop for a short cruise (3-6 days).

Ireland

Today's Destination Spotlight is being done in honor of St. Patty's Day.
What comes to mind when we think of the Emerald Isle? Leprechauns aside, the Irish have a bit of luck when you consider the beauty of their land.
With two official UNESCO sites already Bru na Boinne & Skellig Michael, as well as five potential sites to be added in the next ten years, Ireland has much to be proud of.
TO DO & SEE- Rolling hills, cliffs & castles.  Plan to check out a pub or two, of course.  For something a bit more unique, consider   Bram Stoker's Castle Dracula Attraction in Dublin. Top attraction- Guiness Storehouse
Considering a travel to Ireland? How much of the land can you see & how long can you, as always you will have to consult your budget.  Ask yourself if you would like to include a bit of England or Scotland.  Go it alone or hook up with a tour?
Be prepared. Among other things, you'll want to ensure your passport doesn't expire within 6 months of your trip!

Where to?

This will be a quick one....we are definitely getting asked this one a bit- what can you book?
Anything!
We might have the best deals for cruises, but world travel holdings is growing in other vacation destinations as well.

Like I said today, it only takes about 5 minutes to run a price comparison....if we don't have the best rate for what you want to do, don't think we'll pressure you to do something different.  Just give us a shot, I doubt we'll be beat! Seriously, we did a lot of research.  There's a reason we joined with this company.

A Traveling Jones

Where does one start, but at the beginning?  From the time I was very little, I always wanted to be on the go.....I think I may have rubbed off on my husband over time.  He definitely started out more as a home body, but what may have partly come out of necessity to unplug and unwind has grown into so much more- THERE'S A GREAT BIG WORLD OUT THERE!!

We need our family time.  We have always to a degree taken our work home with us.  Fifteen years and five kids later, we run a full time gutter cleaning business out of our home as well as a part-time marketing business.  We need to get out of the house to accomplish the distraction-free family time!  Obviously, I'll write from our personal experience and hopefully many will find it helpful.

Alright, back to the beginning....we didn't have a fancy honeymoon by any means.  We went camping- tent camping.  Before all the female readers in love with their hair styling products shut me down, let me just say that we didn't stop there.  However, let me also say this, what you will find is a thread through all our travels to shut down the distractions and focus on each other.  We swam, canoed, fished, played cards, ate burgers and made MEMORIES!

Flash forward a few years, we now have five children that we are home-schooling.  What has vacation melded into over the years?  We enjoy, (yes enjoy) a good road trip.  As our vacation budget has expanded, what we are able to do has changed,  Over the years, as we have paid off debts, we have put our increase into retirement (which will be a lot of travel) and trips.  A line that has been burned into our brains is something like this, "Money spent on Vacations will grow in Value over time; while people tend to regret money spent of things."  We camp a bit less and cruise much more.  Cruising has proved to be our biggest bang for the buck.  It has allowed us to see and experience things we never thought we could or would when we were daydreaming years ago.  This is not to say we don't still enjoy the outdoors- not at all.  When we have a few hours, we are so nicely placed in Pa that a hike or canoe trip is easily attained.  However, once you experience the beauty of the Caribbean, don't be surprised if you develop the same addiction we did.
